Some lucky folks got to step into the new year onboard a fabulous floating mansion that they call "home." Up until the very last moment of 2023, the used superyacht market was brimming with exciting deals and sales. One of the millionaires who decided to reward themselves with a new luxury acquisition by the end of the year is now the owner of one of the most spectacular Mangusta yachts in recent years, the Maverick.
You don't need to know too much about the Maverick to be dazzled by its spectacular appearance. It combines an awe-inspiring silhoutte imagined by Overmarine in collaboration with Pierluigi Ausonio with an exquisite style by the acclaimed Alberto Mancini.

This is a 100% Italian masterpiece in every way, starting with the outstanding naval architecture, continuing with the lavish amenities, and all the way up to its reliable performance – twin MTU engines delivering 1,468 HP propel this elegant floating mansion at a maximum of 16 knots (just under 30 kph), while advanced zero-speed stabilizers make for a comfortable ride. At economical speed, the head-turning three-decker can comfortably travel for more than 4,500 nautical miles (8,330 km).

The Maverick is practically new, having been delivered in 2022. It was built under the name of Project Verona, and what makes it extra special is that it's just one of four Oceano 50 models in existence – a limited-edition series by FWY Yachts and Mangusta, the iconic brand of the Italian Overmatine Group.

Therefore, Maverick's new owner will be proud to know that there are only three other similar yachts in the world. And there's more. This special Mangusta yacht is also exceptionally voluminous, which translates to vast spaciousness. At a little over 50 meters (165 feet), Maverick boasts a 499 GT volume, which exceeds the norm for this size category by an impressive 12.57 GT. As a result, this fabulous yacht can accommodate up to 12 guests across six large cabins, as well as a large 11-person crew, for an almost 1:1 guest-crew ratio.

The expansive decks offer incredible variety when it comes to outdoor spaces. Just like its predecessors from the same brand, Maverick is a highly sophisticated interpretation of an open yacht concept. The concept itself was pioneered by Mangusta, along other builders, and constantly refined.

The foredeck of the upper deck is a sunbathers' heaven with ample space for outdoor exercise as well. Below, a dazzling outdoor lounge connects to the salon on the main deck, creating a fabulous indoor/outdoor entertainment area. Fold-out terraces extend the outdoor space sideways and connect to an oversized beach club. The ultra-generous space on board allowed the smooth integration of both a sundeck jacuzzi and a large swimming pool forward.

At the time of the sale, this special Italian superyacht was sitting in Miami and asking for just under $40 million. We'll have to see whether the new owner will make this rare Mangusta available to other folks as well by introducing it to the luxury charter market – success is practically guaranteed.
