Buying a high-performance SUV right now means that you are spoiled for choice. But it's best to hold off on your decision until the end of the year when we should have not only this RS Q8 from Audi, but also its direct rivals from Mercedes and BMW.
We get it; the potent V8 SUV isn't as nimble as a sports car and it honestly feels scary at times. But it's also way more practical than something like an M5. The Q8 is probably Audi's most desirable model right now, and that had very little to do with the slight rake in the rear compared to a Q7. It's just got the right proportions.

Rumor has it that the German model was designed in close proximity to the Lamborghini Urus. In fact, the two share a few visible parts including the door mirrors. So you can think of this RS Q8 model as the Urus for people on a budget or those who don't want to be ostentatious.

It's going to be cheaper too, though at this point, we can't really say by how much. Our best guess is around 130,000 euros before options, but there are a lot of those you'll need to pile on before it's a special car. We're talking about trick suspension, adaptive headlights or exhaust, not to mention the expensive Audi sound system and infotainment upgrades.

Power is something else that separates the RS Q8 from the Urus, even though they are both powered by the 4-liter bi-turbo V8. Audi just dropped one of those in its flagship S8 sedan making 571 HP. We believe the hot SUV will get no more than 605 HP as a result. It doesn't sound bad at all though, especially when passing an Aston Martin Vantage in anger at the 'Ring.

Stay tuned for a big reveal around the time of the 2019 LA Auto Show.
