Fresh out of the oven, the F90 is arguably the most technically advanced M5 yet and the source of many renderings. A pixel artist has already imagined the super sedan as a family-friendly station wagon, and new renderings keep popping up all over the Internet. This time around, we'll focus on Aksyonov Nikita.
The Saint Petersburg-based graphic designer took to his Behance page to showcase three virtual iterations of the F90 M5, with the most outlandish coming in the form of a four-seat cabriolet. With the top down and painted in matte green, the V8-powered ragtop is the stuff of any BMW fan’s dreams.
Unfortunately, BMW can’t find the business case to hack the roof off the F90 M5 to turn it into a convertible. The second rendering from Aksyonov depicts the €117,900 sedan with German police livery. But for all that, the Polizei is more interested in the inline-6 diesel-powered 5er. Australian police is also assessing the G30 5er as a replacement for the Falcon and Commodore.
Last, but certainly not least, the Russian graphic designer imagines the F90 M5 with trademark ///M livery and a jumbo-sized carbon fiber rear wing. The thing is, the Bavarian automaker already has a GT4-spec machine in the form of the M4 GT4. Priced at €169,000, the customer racing car talks the talk and also walks the walk, boasting with bits and bobs borrowed from the M6 GT3.
People in the market for an M-branded convertible with the firepower of the F90 M5 shouldn’t fret, for BMW has a surprise in store for next year. The M8 Convertible is the model in question, which acts as a spiritual successor to the M6 Cabriolet. Bearing in mind 8 is better than 5 in BMW jargon, it’s highly likely the 4.4-liter lump will be tuned to produce more than 600 hp.
