Now that Ferrari has returned to turbocharging, we can bring you an enticing comparison that allows us to see whether Maranello can do a better job at generating a cool turbo soundtrack than Porsche.
We've brought along a video delivering the perfect comparison between the two speedy automakers, with the clip involving a 488 GTB and a 2017 911 Turbo S.

The footage brings three main aural approaches. To be more precise, the Fezza and the Porscha are filmed from outside, during take-offs, while another take sees the camera, microphone included, being mounted on the rear apron, close to the exhaust.

Then there's the all-important part that sees the supercars' voices being recorded from inside the cabin.

Some velocity animals are more equal than others

However, there's a massive difference between the pair of go-fast animals we hare here and it all has to do with their more or less traditional power. You see, while the 991.2 Porsche Neunelfer and the Ferrari 488 are both mid-cycle booms (the 488 is actually close to an all-new car) that replaced natural aspiration with forced induction, this situation doesn't involve the 911 Turbo.

By definition, the Turbo has always been a friend of the boost, whereas the 488 marks the Prancing Horse's return to an arena the company left once the all-mighty F40 production ceased back in 1992.

However, while purists may look at the Ferrari 488 GTB and the Porsche 911 Turbo S in totally different ways, the video below delivers a speeding effort to bring these two machines together in a world where performance and decibels are all that matters.

Returning to the dB battle we're here to give you, we should probably warn you that all the turbocharging isn't without its aural drawbacks, as certain parts of the clip might remind one of a vacuum cleaner soundtrack. Oh well, at least the performance is nothing short of stellar.
