Returning for the 2017 model year, the Chevrolet Trax comes with a more expressive exterior design, interior enhancements, and a suite of safety and connectivity solutions. The thing is, the 2016 model is more appealing to the eye, as is its cousin from across the pond - the recently introduced Mokka X.
Compared to the rough, no excuse persona of the 2016 Chevrolet Trax, the 2017 Trax has a face only a mother could love. The Cruze is wearing the stacked dual-port grille much better than the Trax does. If the gawky look doesn’t bother you, then let’s move on and talk about new or improved features. First of all, don’t make the mistake to get the LS because the halogen reflector headlamps are hideous.

Go for the LT and Premier trim levels and Chevrolet will happily equip your Trax with LED-accented halogen projector headlamps. If that’s still not enough, the Premier ups the ante with LED taillamps.

Step inside the 2017 Trax and you’ll observe minor enhancements designed to make life easier for the driver and passengers alike. Take the upper dashboard hood as a case in point. The way it flows across the panel enhances the perception of space inside the small crossover.

Greater visibility was the number 1 priority for the men and women who redesigned the instrument panel with a user-friendly gauge display. The analog speedo and tachometer are joined by the digital display of the driver information center.

Galvano chrome trim and a 7-inch MyLink touchscreen also improve the interior ambiance. The latter supports the latest connectivity technologies, including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and 4G LTE with Wi-Fi hotspot for up to seven wireless devices.

On the safety front, 10 airbags and a rearview camera come as standard. Depending on the model, the 2017 Chevrolet Trax can be even safer if equipped with Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Forward Collision Alert, and Side Blind Zone Alert.

As it was the case with the 2016 Chevrolet Trax, the 2017 model year is powered by a 1.4-liter Ecotec four-cylinder motor that sends 138 HP and 148 lb-ft (200 Nm) of torque to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel-drive is available as an option.
