Fiat has launched the other two members of its Tipo family at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. We are talking about the Hatchback and Estate/Wagon versions of the Tipo, a car initially launched in a sedan body style.
The Fiat Tipo range is available with a choice of five powertrains. Out of the five, two are diesel engines, while three are gasoline options. The Italian carmaker offers manual transmissions as well as automatic and dual-clutch options for the Tipo.

Concerning trim levels, the new Fiat Tipo will be available with three equipment options. Standard features include electric mirrors, air conditioning, six airbags, DAB digital radio, Bluetooth connectivity, and remote central locking, among others. Fiat will detail the full equipment range of the Tipo Hatchback and Estate in the coming months, just before the new versions come to market.

If we look at the design of the new offerings in Fiat’s portfolio, we admit we see some similarities to the Dodge Dart, along with some fresh elements. In any case, there’s no resemblance to the old Fiat Bravo and Croma models, the previous equivalents of the Tipo Hatchback and Estate.

As usual, when we look at cars launched as Sedans and then turned into hatchbacks, the rear design is not necessarily exciting. However, the new Tipo is not an appalling model, but no beauty queen either.

The Italians at Fiat are proud of the Tipo and claim it features class-leading legroom and trunk space. They say the Tipo Hatchback can seat three six-feet-plus (over 1.82 m tall) adults in the rear. The volume of the loading space is of 440 liters, while the Estate comes with 110 extra, amounting to 550 liters in total. Both values are the best in the class.

The first member of the Tipo family was launched last year, while the new additions to the range will be available soon on the European market. Fiat designed the Tipo at the Fiat Style Centre and developed it in Turkey with their local partners, Tofas, where they also manufacture their compact offering. The Tipo hatchback replaces the Bravo, while the Estate version is the replacement of the Croma.
