In case you believe that the 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 is not already cool enough and is in need of more killer-looking add-ons, how about upping the game dramatically and installing an exhaust which seems ripped off a MotoGP bike? Of course, this might sound like wet dreams territory to most riders who are eyeing to get a brand new R1, but things are for real: Akrapovic’s new Slip-On line exhaust silencer for this bike looks like the real MotoGP deal!
The silencer is inspired by the ones which can be seen on Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo’s 2015-spec YZR-M1 machines. The cans sport a completely new shape, compared to what we were all used to until now. Short, compact and highly robust, this new silencer is also integrating visually quite well with the R1.

Even the carbon fiber heat shield looks similar to those present in Grand Prix Racing and fits seamlessly in the picture. Even though this silencer is such a high-tech piece, installing it does not require a MotoGP crew. Using the titanium link pipe which was designed especially for this canister, installing the new R1 Slip-On is easy, required only few household tools and minimal mechanical skills.

All the mounting hardware is supplied with the silencer and no ECU remapping is needed after installation. The new can improves the power and torque figures for the 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1, but Akrapovic has become rather secretive lately in showing this data. Finally, what’s even neater is that this silencer is ECE and EC approved and is also CARB and EPA noise compliant.

Ask your local Akrapovic dealer for the pricing and availability of the new R1 and get ready to experience more power, more performance and a completely new tonal character form your superbike.
