Yesterday we showed you the upcoming third generation of the smart fortwo spied somewhere in Germany and it seems that the tiny city car was out for a longer than usual drive.
We don't know if the model in the following photo gallery wanted to celebrate Halloween in a very Blair Witch Project kind of way or it was simply driving through a wooded area towards a smart testing center.
Either way, the angles in which our spy photographers managed to catch the lilliputian vehicle show us a perfect view of its side, which is obviously a lot more different than the current generation.
The bulgy front end should give it a better rating for pedestrian protection, while the increased width should give it both a better stability and more interior elbow and shoulder room for its two passengers.
Engine-wise, a Renault-sourced 0.9-liter three-cylinder in both turbocharged and naturally-aspirated versions would comprise most of the range, with a Tesla-sourced electric engine to complement it. Expect a public unveil during February 2014, while the official car launch should happen at the 2014 Geneva Motors Show in March.
