A photo allegedly showing the brand new Peugeot 508 flagship sedan has recently emerged on the internet. With only the front view to go by, there's not a lot we can do in terms of confirming its authenticity, but it's clear we're looking at something new, something that Peugeot doesn't want us to see yet, be that an all-new or facelifted car.
According to CarNewsChina, the 2015 508 will be a redesigned sedan from the ground up, based on PSA’s modular EMP2 platform, which already underpins the 308, 408 and C4 Picasso. All these cars have managed to shed a significant amount of weight compared to their predecessors and we can expect much the same thing from the D-segment sedan.

Competing with popular European sedans like the VW Passat and Opel Insignia is going to be a tough job. Customers in this market expect a certain amount of quality and equipment, not to mention a prestigious badge. However, in China, the current 508 is actually doing quite well already.

So what about the styling of the new 508? It certainly has some unique features. For example, the lion badge is in the middle of a very narrow but long grille. Most Peugeots have it on the hood, so by changing this feature they are making the 508 their most stand-out car. The headlights also bulge towards the side of the car, which is not something we see very often, and have a more angular design, like the recent four-door Exalt Concept.

Rumor has it the new 508 will enjoy a global debut at the end of this year and will go on sale in early 2015. Its job will be to replace the largest Peugeot sedan currently sold, which has been in production since 2010.
