In a perfect example of “Captain Obvious strikes again”, the journos from Autocar report that the upcoming second generation of the Mercedes-Benz GLK will have a much sleeker look, featuring a lower body compared to the G-Class-inspired design for the current model.
Speaking with Gorden Wagener, the head of design at Mercedes-Benz, the Brits got the following from the man: “We will unleash the potential of the product with our new design language. Look at the A-Class, CLA, GLA, E-Class, S-Class and now the C-Class – all of them are totally successful.”
He also mentioned that the new GLK will “move away from generic models with harsh shapes to more integrated, sleek, sporty and clean” designs.
Despite the pre-production model spied above wearing heavy camouflage, all of the above statements were pretty much known already just by looking at it, as the model clearly has more rounded corners and will have a front and overall design theme very much in line with the recently-released GLA model, only in a larger package.
