Scheduled to arrive in 2015, the next-generation Lexus IS F will hit dealerships without the naturally-aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine.
According to The Motor Report, Junichiro Furuyama, chief designer of the new IS, claims the V8 unit currently used in the IS F won't be able to meet Euro 6 standards without major improvements. Thus, the Japanese automaker wants to introduce a replacement for the next-gen IS F, which is likely to be naturally-aspirated as well, for "a more pure experience".
A turbocharged V6 engine is also considered to enable the new vehicle to rival BMW's M3 and Cadillac's CTS-V. No hybrid drivetrain will be developed for the 2015 Lexus IS F, but such technology could be fitted in a future generation.
