There was a time when American cars were made in America, not Korea, when German cars were all sedans or estates and Asians only made copies of Morgans and Austins. That time is long gone, replaced by the era of the Nurburgring, when everybody has to hone their car at the Green hell.
Cadillac bombarded us with videos from the Nurburgring back when the ATS sedan was launched, and now Hyundai is doing the same for the all-new Genesis. This doesn't mean that it will be a rival for the BMW M3, but we can expect significant improvements over the outgoing model.
Last year, Hyundai invested in its very own test facility near the famous German test track. We even knew it was developed there because of the numerous sighting. But the promo video they released today does tell us something interesting. Apparently, test engineers from Lotus helped with suspension tuning, which is, as far as we know, a first for the Korean auto industry.
The clip also points at the new HTRAC all-wheel drive system and he Intelligent Drive Mode which alters the transmission shifts, throttle responsiveness, ESP and damping setup. So while the Genesis might not be a track car, it could be a little more fun to drive than your average German car rival.
