At long last we know what General Motors meant by registering the "Trail Boss" mark with the US Patent and Trademark Office. Ladies and gents, it's our pleasure to present you with the most off-road capable mid-size Chevrolet pickup truck in production today – the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 Trail Boss.
Going on sale this spring, in 2WD or 4WD format, with a starting price set at $28,505 plus the Z71 Trail Boss package's $3,320 sticker, this Colorado combines the golden bowtie manufacturer's Z71 off-road truck suspension package with a set of all-terrain tires and visual enhancements. Tony Johnson, the Colorado's marketing manager, is pretty enthusiastic about it.

"The Chevrolet Colorado Z71 Trail Boss Edition is equally at home blazing an urban trail or following one to a favorite remote campground. It gives owners the gear-carrying ability and versatility they need to venture off-road, with segment-leading efficiency and capability.” With these being said, what exactly do Z71 Trail Boss Edition buyers get for that kind of money?

Starting with Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac 265/65R17 off-road-ready rubber and 17-inch dark argent cast-aluminum wheels, the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 Trail Boss Edition adds black Chevy bowtie logos everywhere, GearOn moveable cargo tie-down rings, a load bar and cargo divider and black fender flares.

Additional 2015 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 Trail Boss Edition features include the following:

  • G80 automatic locking rear differential
  • Transfer case shield (on 4WD)
  • Front recovery hooks
  • Black, three-inch round rocker steps
  • Spray-on bedliner
  • Projector beam headlamps
  • Front fog lamps
  • All-weather floor mats adorned with the Z71 logo.
