According to an insider from BMW, the new BMW X5 M and X6 M that are set to make their worldwide debut by the end of the year or the beginning of 2015 are to bring out a completely new color: Long Beach Blue.
The aforementioned paint was introduced for the first time to the audience on the BMW X4 Concept, according to the same source, at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show. It’s kind of hard to tell the difference between it, the Estoril Blue shade and Le Mans Blue just from photos. It’s a completely different story in real-life though.

To us, judging by the available shots of the X4, it looks like the same shade of blue Alpina uses to its cars. However, we might be surprised once we get to see it in person.

The same Long Beach Blue will also be available on the upcoming M2, as a small consolation for the fact that the smallest M car might not be eligible for the Individual program. That was not confirmed just yet.

The F85 X5 M has been in the works for quite some time now, just like its SAC brother, the F86 X6 M. It’s been over a year since the F15 X5 was launched and the world is still waiting on its M version.

All sources point to an upgraded version of the S63Tu engine being used under the bonnet hooked up to a 7-speed DCT gearbox this time. The same layout will be used on the X6 as well. As for the launch date, the initial unveiling was set for the Moscow Auto Show in August but due to the recent developments in Eastern Russia and Ukraine everything was cancelled. Look forward for a big debut at Paris, in October.
