It’s no surprise anymore that BMW has been working hard on a new version of the X6 that was bound to be released this year. According to our early info, the car is supposed to make its world debut at the Moscow Auto Show but some eager people on the internet couldn’t wait any longer.
Therefore, some photos of the new car were leaked online ahead of BMW’s schedule, showing us the new X6 in all its glory. As you can see and as we expected, the new model takes some styling cues from the F15 X5 and other from the F26 X4. Or is it the other way around?

Up front we can see the new headlights are pretty much similar to the ones on the X5, being also connected to the kidney grille. The X-shaped front bumper remains intact and the air intakes at the sides get a new look.

Round the back, the muscular lines show a Coupe-like, sloping roof line that creates a boot similar to the one on the X4. The taillights are also pretty much alike, making the car look bulky and mean.

Inside, everything has been given a new feel, without intruding too much into the already familiar interior of BMWs we’ve been getting used to. The rear seats seem to be new, with an interesting design. Yet, since we have no official info, they could very well be part of the Individual treatment this car will get. Up front, the layering we’ve seen in the X5 shows up as well, turning the dash into a more up to date proposal. All the materials look really good and the instrument cluster seems to be digital.

As for the engines, expect the X6 to come out with the xDrive35i and sDrive35i models as entry-level proposals, both fitted with 3-liter turbocharged inline 6-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine making 306 HP and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque, the former being all-wheel-drive and the latter rear-wheel-drive.

The top-spec model at first will be the xDrive50i, using the 4.4-liter V8 twinturbo powerplant we’ve been getting used to, making 450 HP and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque that will probably be good for a sub 5 second dash to 100 km/h (62 mph). We’re also pretty confident we’ll see an M50d model.

Expect more info in the coming days as we’re pretty sure BMW is now preparing a full gallery and a proper press release for the new X6.
