Star Motorcycles previews another nifty 2014 model, this time built for the long highway hauls: the V Star 950 Tourer. Funny how the new Star is planned to reach the dealerships this June, just before most riders are leaving on vacations... quite a nice move, especially if the dealers have already announced test riding sessions.
The 2014 V Star 950 Tourer comes ready to ride from the box and has pretty much all the basic tourer features: classic-look leather-wrapped side cases, a generous windscreen and passenger backrest for a comfortable several thousands mile-long vacation.

With 47 mpg (5 l/100 km) announced fuel efficiency, the 2014 V Star 950 Tourer can cover more than 200 miles (320 km) between fill-ups, and this is a truly valuable asset.

This middleweight tourer is powered by a 60-degree 58cui (942cc) v-twin which can be easily tamed by new riders and which will also please the seasoned ones, too. The easy and smooth-shifting 5-speed transmission is a great match for the low seat of the 2014 V Star 950 Tourer, making riding it a nifty experience accessible to smaller motorcyclists and ladies, alike.

A 320mm dic in the front and a 298mm in the rear provide the necessary stopping power. Star could have used dual discs for the front end, but it looks like one was enough. Light, cast wheels come with an 8-spoke modern design and help shave some weight off this tourer: with 657 lbs (297 kg) the 2014 V Star 950 Tourer is not exactly heavy for its liter-class engine.

Start made liberal use of chromed parts, for a classic look, but managed to avoid the bling-factor. The 2014 V Star 950 Tourer arrives with a $9,790 (€7,515) MSRP.
