2014 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado First Drive in South Africa

The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado comes both with cosmetic and mechanical changes for 2014, one of which being the new suspension that is said to totally transform the way the SUV feels.
Apart from the redesigned, slightly bolder, front and rear fascia, the 2014 Prado has a new suspension called the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS), which makes realtime adjustments to the front and rear stabilizer bars to suit the demands of a certain terrain.

Tested by Times South Africa in the Namibian Desert, the journalists found the new Prado to be “an incredibly competent piece of machinery.” Their VX trim came with a lot of off-road driving aids like centre and rear diff locks, heavy-duty low-range transfer case, Crawl Control, Multi Terrain Select and Adaptive Variable Suspension.

And while on the outside there was an arid hell waiting, the interior of the Prado managed to insulate very well the passengers from it, while spoiling them with things like leather trimmed seats, three-zone climate control with rear air vents, 14-speaker sound system with steering-wheel mounted controls and more.
