The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) results for GM’s 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra twins are in.
Powered by the company’s 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 engine and equipped with two-wheel drive, they are officially estimated to return 15 miles per gallon in the city and 21 miles per gallon on the highway.

For the trucks fitted with the same four-wheel drive, EPA’s ratings drop to 14 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway. For comparison purposes, the same vehicles fitted with the 4.3-liter V6 mills return 18 mpg city / 24 mpg highway with two-wheel drive and 17 mpg city / 22 mpg highway with four-wheel drive.

The new 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 engine will be offered on the luxury-trimmed Chevrolet Silverado High Country, GMC Sierra SLT and GMC Sierra Denali models. The regular 2014 Silverado and Sierra trucks are already in GM dealerships nationwide with starting prices set at $24,585 and $25,085 respectively.
