Ram Trucks has unveiled its 2014 Heavy Duty pickup truck range with an all-new 6.4-liter V8 Hemi engine, which is said to deliver best-in-class power.
Rated at 410 HP (5,600 rpm) and 429 lb-ft of torque (4,000 rpm), the new unit features VVT with Fuel Saver cylinder deactivation and can be ordered as an option for $1,495 more than a similarly equipped 5.7-liter V8-powered Ram. The new 6.4-liter Hemi is also the first gasoline engine to be fitted in the dual rear wheel 3500 model.
Besides the class-leading power, the 2014 Ram 2500 and 3500 also come with several best-in-class titles for towing, payload and Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR). Among others, Ram brags about the 3500 being able to tow up to 30,000 pounds, haul a payload of up to 7,320 pounds and have a GCWR of 37,600, while the smaller Ram 2500 promises to tow up to 17,940 pounds.
Pricing for the new 2014 Ram Heavy Duty starts at $29,600, plus $1,095 destination fee, while production is scheduled to commence in third quarter at the Saltillo Truck Assembly Plant in Coahuila, Mexico.
