It looks like Ducati Corse has exactly one month to decide which type of entry will be made for the 2014 championship.
The MotoGP regulations state that "Entries in the MotoGP class must specify which category each rider will participate under, Open category or Factory option (ref. Art. 2.4.3.5) by the 28 February deadline for entry form completion."
Ducati Corse boss Gigi Dall'Igna has one month and the tests at Sepang ahead to figure out the best course of action for the next championship.
As a new bike is impossible to come with this year, he must carefully weigh the benefits of running an Open class entry with 12 engines and 24 liters of fuel but the stock Marelli software, against the 20-liter tanks, 5 engines and total freedom to write proprietary software in the Factory class.
Since voices in the paddock mentioned more than once that the problem with Ducati is the bike, and not the software, we won't be surprised to see 4 Open class Ducati on the grid this year. 2015 on the other hand, might bring a new GP machine altogether...
