Alongside its S brother, the Cooper also got a full reveal this week accompanied by a more than generous photo gallery that can also be used a full-on wallpaper collection.
The photos were taken in Puerto Rico at the international press launch and have some amazing views in the background, emphasizing the controversial look of the new models.
The Cooper will be fitted with a brand new 1.5-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged engine that uses direct injection, fully variable valve control and variable camshaft control to make 136 HP and 220 Nm of torque (230 Nm with over boost).
The acceleration was drastically improved on the new model, turning the Cooper into a sub 8 seconds car, 62 mph arriving in 7.9 seconds with the manual and 0.1 seconds faster with the automatic 6-speed.
Fuel consumption is now rated at 52.2 mpg for the automatic and 49 mpg for the manual, CO2 emissions dropping to 106 or 110 g/100 km depending on the transmission. Prices for the 2014 model start at $19,950 in the US.
