A 1-liter engine in a Ford? That sounds like a bad deal at first glance, but European customers have been enjoying the Fiesta EcoBoost for about a year now. About half the cars sold overseas have this new turbo engine, buy why?
The engine block is the size of an A4 piece of paper, but despite that it should provide at least 100 hp (official specs on this engine have not been released). It's also extremely frugal.

The official EPA sticker for the 2014 Fiesta is an amazing 32 mpg in the city and 45 mpg on the highway. The city numbers are not as good as a smart fortwo's 34 mpg, but the Fiesta is a lot of car for the money, not to mention a looker, with that Aston Martin like grille.

The Fiesta can only be had with EcoBoost as the "SE Manual EcoBoost Package", which costs $995 over the standard sticker and adds the engine, 15-inch steel wheels with aerodynamic wheel covers, regenerative brakes, and EcoBoost badging. Including destination charge, you'll thus be paying $17,240 for the sedan or $17,840 for the hatchback.

You can see how the Fiesta EcoBoost stacks up against the competition at fueleconomy.gov, and configure your own Fiesta here.

Update: Ford has just released a couple of cool videos of the EcoBoost Fiesta, promoting its penny-pinching capabilities.
