By far, the biggest seller in Europe, in the X5 stable, will be the xDrive30d model, the perfect balance between performance and economy. Even though, for a couple thousand more you can get the maddening M50d model, the two are almost completely different cars.
The guys from Autocar took an xDrive30d model out for a test drive and came back impressed. For those of you that didn’t know, the xDrive30d badge on the back of the car mean the X5 is fitted with a 3-liter turbo diesel engine that makes 258 HP and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque and returns an average fuel consumption of 6.2 l/100 km (38 mpg).

The car is spacious, convenient and refined, the diesel engine showing a lot of improvement over the previous version, not just extra power but also less noise and smoother operation. The performance (0-62 mph in under 7 seconds) and handling put it above its competitors like the Range Rover and Cayenne Diesel.

Of course, off road it might be a different story but let’s face it: who’s ever going to use a luxury SUV off the asphalt?

The extensive range of optional features might be confusing at first but, guided by a salesperson, you can get everything you can possibly want on this car from adjustable suspension to leather covered dash.
