The M-DCT double-clutch gearbox on our right obviously isn’t as good as a torque converter when it comes to pulling burnouts, but it can definitely provide some pretty nice smoky launches.
The twin-turbo setup brings way more low-end torque than before, so the V8 is more than happy to assist with such maneuvers. And while we’re going through the role of the various tech bits in this type of hooning, we have to mention the rear diff.
You can really feel the upgrades compared to the E63 BMW M6, the thing is simply much better at putting the power down. Even with the DSC fully off, you never truly get to punish the rear tires.
All the 2014 BMW M6 really wants to do is get off that line quicker. That’s because it likes to brag about its 4.2-second time for the 0 to 62 mph sprint. Of course, you’ll have to perform the Launch Control ritual for this.
