It almost feels like BMW is punking us right now, but no, the two-door compact M car will likely carry te M4 badge from now on, as both the coupe and convertible 3er will be designated the 4-Series with the coming of the next generation.
Road & Track magazine has tried to lift the vail of secrecy as to what the new M4 Coupe will look like by creating this excellent rendering of it. Many of the lines are borrowed from the F30 2012 3-Series and the M3 test prototypes roaming Europe’s roads.
Once you start thinking about it, the name change to the 4-Series doesn’t seem all that farfetched. Audi pulled a similar move by changing the A4 convertible into the A5. But what we can’t really get our head round is the rumor that the car will have a tri-turbo 3.3-liter V6 underhood, producing about 450 hp.
