The new 2014 Audi R8 is officially on sale in the United States as of April 11, with pricing starting from $114,900, not including the $1,250 delivery fee and the $3,000 gas guzzler tax.
The above-mentioned price will “only” get you the V8-engined R8 Coupe with manual gearbox, and if you’re interested in the range-topping V10 Plus mounted to a S-tronic gearbox you’ll need $179,645 before any taxes. The most expensive R8 can achieve a top speed of 196 mph and reaches 60 mph from a standing start in only 3.3 seconds.
The 2014 Spyder R8 comes in two flavours, with V8 and V10 engines, both connected to either the manual or the S-tronic transmission with prices ranging from $128,400 to $173,800 (again, before taxes).
Besides the new S-tronic transmission and new LED headlamp design, the 2014 Audi R8 gained several interior updates, including diamond-stitch leather seats and flat-bottom multi-function steering wheel. New weight-saving components, such as ceramic brakes, carbon fiber side blades front splitter or rear diffuser, were also introduced.
“The launch of the R8 represented the turning point of the Audi brand and placed luxury on notice,” said Scott Keogh, President Audi of America. “The 2014 R8 will continue to build upon that success for our halo sports car and for the Audi brand as a whole.”
