The 2013 Race of Champions has been cancelled by the Sports Authority of Thailand due to political unrest in Bangkok. The event was scheduled to take place on December 14-15.
Held every year without interruption for the past 25 years, the Race of Champions won’t be organized this year, although the Sports Authority of Thailand says it is currently “looking at options of repeating the success of last year’s even in Bangkok at another date.”

The Race of Champions gathers Formula One, WRC, NASCAR, sportscar and touring car drivers from all over the world. They compete against each other, going head-to-head in identical cars in a round-robin format.

Last year’s edition was won by Frenchman Romain Grosjean, who defeated Tom Kristensen in the final. The most successful driver in the competition’s history is Didier Auriol, with four wins, followed by Sebastian Loeb and Mattias Ekstrom with three trophies each.
