It looks like Lightning has chosen one of the best names anyone could ever find, and we say this after seeing their rider Carlin Dunne setting a new best qualifying time in the 2013 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
Riding his electric machine on the lower section of the Pikes Peak, Dunne and his Lightning were more than 3 seconds faster than the last year similar run (4m16s896), and over 5 seconds faster than the next two-wheeler.
This looks really awesome with the Sunday race in mind, as we expect the outright motorcycle record holder to put up an impressive race up the Pikes Peak hills.
The entire road is paved to the top, so we will definitely see more record breaking from other classes, including ICE motorcycles and cars.
With Dunne previously doing 4m34s03 on the first section and 5m04s40 on the upper one, during the tire test, and summing a mind-boggling combined time of 9m38s43, we're truly looking forward to see him making a move on his own 2012 9m52s819 record. Via Asphalt and Rubber.
