Backed by the unveiling of the 2012 911 Carrera Cabriolet in Detroit, Porsche has shown its brand new Boxster two-seater roadster, promising to be a bit lighter, a bit more powerful and a lot more interesting-looking. The sporty new vehicle you see in this video that Porsche has just released also carries a wider track and significantly enhanced driving dynamics.
The new Boxster looks more masculine thanks to shorter overhangs and a windscreen that's been shifted forward. This makes it look less like a 911, especially in combination with the fresh headlamps. The passenger compartment gets a fully electric top and does away with the old convertible top compartment lid, which has saved space.
Both the regular Boxster and the Boxster Shave been revealed at the same time, powered by flat-six engines that use direct injection. The base car now delivers 265hp from a 2.7-liter unit, which is 10 more hp than before. Meanwhile, the Boxster S offers up 315 hp from its 3.4-liter. But it’s the economy that impresses the most, and this is due in part to weight-saving refinements.
