We’re not quite sure yet what to call it, but it’s a pretty nice car, provided you have the money to actually buy one. It’s the MINI Paceman John Cooper Works Edition, making its world debut at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
It’s got all-wheel drive and a beefy body kit, but from were we’re standing, it’s still very small and quite cute.
The most powerful version of the Paceman crossovers powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbo engine delivering 208 hp in the US-market output. That might not sound like much these days, but it translates into 0 to 60 mph in just 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 127 mph (204km/h) for US models. Not bad, right?
Economy isn’t that shabby either. The JCW Paceman is expected to return 31 mpg highway, 25 city and 27 mph combined for the manual version and 30 mpg highway, 23 mpg city, 26 mpg combined for automatic.
The JCW is also the most expensive version of the Paceman you can buy in the States. It costs from $36,200, and for that you get sports suspension, larger 18-inch wheels, and a red and black interior.
We like to look at this car as a bigger, more practical MINI Hatch with all-wheel drive. Can’t go wrong with that combo!
