In a recent interview for MotoGP.com, Massimo Meregalli, Team Director for Yamaha Factory Racing said we need not worry about the shortage of new engines remaining for the rest of the 2013 season.
We remind you that Yamaha is currently using engine #4 out of 5, only 6 rounds into the 2013 MotoGP season. Meregalli admitted that both Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi had an issue with one of the engines, and the Yamaha engineers decided to seal the #2 engine until they could figure out exactly what happened.

Massimo Meregalli also told MotoGP.com that the riders will toggle between engines 1, 3 and 4, and are not going to use the last fresh one they've got, any time soon, provided that no crashes or other similar unfortunate events take place.

The Team Director also said that their engines' durability is pretty good and Yamaha is not concerned, as 5 power plants are just enough for the whole season.

At the same time, Meregalli said that Yamaha is still not introducing their “seamless transmission” as there is still much more testing to do and the MotorLand Argon, where the official tests are now in progress, is far from being the best one for such testing.
