2013 MotoGP: No More Private Tests with Contracted Riders in 2014

Dorna bans private tests with contracted riders 1 photo
Assembled for the Qatar rounds, the Grand Prix Commission, MotoGP's rulemaking body has come up with a new ban on private tests, due to become effective in 2014.
The most important change in testing was the ban set for contracted riders (the riders who are full-time racing in MotoGP) on private tests. Starting with the 2014 season, the official riders wll only be allowed at the official tests in the MotoGP calendar, as following:
  • One three day official test at a circuit in Europe between the final event and 30 November.
  • Three of three day official tests in the period between 01 February and the first event of the season.
  • A maximum of three tests, each of one day, on the Monday after events designated by Dorna/IRTA in Europe.
  • Any activity authorized by Race Direction.
The teams can use test riders as they want in as many private tests on any circuits, as long as they are using the "test tire allocation", just like the contracted riders of the CRT teams, with approval from the Race Direction before said tests.

GPC also adds that no testing will be allowed between December 1 and January 31, both dates being inclusive.
