The Lexus CT 200h makes good use of the Lexus Hybrid Drive System, all packed in a hatchback platform, with a nice shape and the right technology features. It’s like a glorified Prius, if you want, but much more fun to drive.
The base model starts at CAD31,450 and it’s powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine aided by an electric motor.
Canadian-based publication Autonet has recently tested the CT 200h fitted with the F Sport pack, which adds sport suspension, visual enhancements and bigger alloy wheels, for about CAD6,000.
Thanks to the Lexus’ Hybrid Drive System, they averaged a fuel consumption of 51 mpg (4.6 l/100 km), without abusing the EV mode. The CT 200h offers three more drive modes - Eco, Normal and Sport.
The Sport mode maximizes the throttle responsiveness and keeps the gasoline engine at the ready, to provide optimum acceleration, while the Eco mode does the exact opposite. The Normal mode tries to find a perfect balance between the gasoline engine and electric motor.
