The 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe is one of the most hotly anticipated new vehicles coming from the South Korean carmaker. Instead of the boring curves of the old generation, this brand new model will have a large and imposing three-bar chrome grille and apparently some tech goodies as well.
According to The Korean Car Blog, the diesel version of the vehicle will get two power outputs from the same 2.2-liter unit. We don’t know what the base version will be like, though we expect somewhere in the region of 170 to 180 hp.
But the 2.2 CRDi top-of-the-range model will have 225 horsepower (PS). We even have a scan of the engine and its specs to show you. Apparently, the four-cylinder unit also comes with lower emissions and better economy, and also 51 kgf-m of torque, which is equivalent to 500 Nm or 368 lb-ft.
The diesel model is not available in the US right now, but Hyundai probably has a lot of money invested in it, so it might introduce it there. The 2013 Santa Fe will be unveiled at the 2012 New York Motor Show in April, an will be known as the ix45 in Europe.
