The Hyundai Genesis Coupe can’t really be called a closely guarded secret, since a photo was leaked ahead of the official debut. Now, Carscoop revealed a bunch of shots of the fresh model they got from Thekoreancarblog, and there are three important subjects to talk about.
First off, there’s the exterior looks, which changed to fit in with the rest of the Hyundai offer. You’ve got redesigned lamps front and back and a hexagonal grille that hides a black bumper strip in the middle. The photos from Korea also show hood scoops and LED daytime running lights.
These are also the first shots of the interior we’ve ever seen, and we have to admit that the Coupe is miles ahead of the previous generation. You’ve got more premium materials, and the center and lower consoles have been redesigned. Between the air conditioning and radio, you have three sporty gauges - fuel, oil and what looks like torque.
You’ve got brushed aluminum on the surround for the shifter and everything looks to be of a far better quality than ever before. Cool features also include a blue-illuminated starter button, buttons for answering your phone on the steering wheel and iPod connectivity.
The third bit of info revealed by the photos and by the Korean source is the 333 hp 3.8-liter V6 and the 8-speed automatic gearbox. The unit now has GDI tech as standard and as such makes 27 more horsepower than the old generation V6.
Editor’s note: Dirty interior, an open bonnet and a bad parking job next to the curb - are these really spy photos or did they steal it?
