Hyundai has a significantly refreshed Genesis Coupe for the 2013 model year. The car might not be perfect, but the Koreans have done a great job, and plenty of young customers are going to flock into this RWD two-door.
To make sure the appeal of such a fun car isn’t lost on anybody, the company has already moved forward with the first motorsport version in America, this Formula Drift race car that will be driven by Rhys Millen this year.

The car was built from a 2013 Genesis Coupe shell and then let Rhys Millen Racing (RMR) do their thing! And the and result is a hunkered down 600 horsepower drift car.

“I’m pleased to have Hyundai’s ongoing support for the 2012 season,” Millen said. “This begins the fourth year of our racing relationship with Hyundai, and we want to continue to build upon our success in both developing and racing Hyundai’s race-proven products.”

2012 Formula Drift Schedule:
April 6-7: Streets of Long Beach, California
May 11-12: Road Atlanta, Georgia
June 1-2: Palm Beach International Raceway, Florida
June 22-23: Wall Speedway, New Jersey
July 20-21: Evergreen Speedway, Washington
August 24-25: Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Nevada

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
