2012 Yamaha XT250 and TW200 Motorcycles Introduced

Yamaha’s North American division, Star Motorcycles, has just introduced the 2012 XT250 and TW200 dual purpose motorcycles, with both models set to arrive at nationwide dealerships this July. The XT250 achieves fuel economy up to an estimated 73 mpg, while the TW200 returns an estimated 78 mpg.

Taken separately, Yamaha says the XT250 has long-travel suspension and more than 11.2 inches of ground clearance under a seat only 31.9 inches from the ground. The semi-double-cradle steel frame achieves a lighter, nimbler feel through greater mass centralization while greater lateral and torsional rigidity and reduced weight of the lower frame parts help produce light, stable handling.

Additional features include the multifunction digital LCD instrument panel with green background lighting that’s easily visible day or night, and frame-mounted passenger foot pegs to provide two-up riding capability.

On the other hand, TW200 comes with big fat tires for great traction and rider comfort over a wide range of terrain, a low seat and compact chassis, and standard instrumentation includes a speedometer with odometer and resettable trip meter as well as indicator lights for neutral, high beam and turn signals.

“Electric start and full street equipment mean it is super convenient to ride the TW200 just about wherever you need to go. The strong-pulling 196cc air-cooled, four-stroke single delivers torquey low and mid range power perfectly suited to off road exploring while the maintenance free CDI ensures precise, reliable spark for peak engine performance at all rpm,” Yamaha says.

While the 2012 XT250 comes with an MSRP of $5,090, the 2012 TW200 with an MSRP of $4,490, both in White/Blue paint scheme.
