2012 Yamaha Grizzly 700 and 550 ATVs Now US-made

It was only a matter of time until Yamaha's top selling all-terrain-vehicles (ATVs), the Grizzly 700 FI 4x4 and Grizzly 550 FI 4x4, would enter production in the United States at the manufacturer’s Newnan factory, since Yamaha is looking to move here all its all-terrain vehicle production.

For 2012, the two ATV models come with design and performance upgrades, aimed at increasing off-road capability and durability of these machines.

The new 2012 Grizzly 700 and 550 receive new textured plastic body panels, new Maxxis tires, an updated suspension (both front and rear, and are offered with Electric Power Steering (EPS). As the rider turns the handlebars and the torque- and speed-sensing EPS system detects the twisting force put on the handlebars and wheels, the electric motor then responds with the appropriate amount of assistance.

In addition, the ATVs also sport an Ultramatic automatic transmission system with dual speed gearing. An open gate shifter found on the left side of the handlebars allows the rider to easily switch between High, Low, Neutral, Reverse and Park.  This is also easy to see on the multifunction LCD display, which offers dual trip meter, speedometer, hour meter, odometer and clock, in addition to the gear selection, fuel level indicator, On-Command indicator and EPS and fuel injection indicator lights.

Also, in terms of comfort, the Grizzly 700 and 550 have the air box located on the top of the engine, a thick, plush seat and full floorboards, two water resistant storage boxes, and a SecureMount rack system.

The Grizzly 700 and Grizzly 550 are also available without EPS. The 2012 models come in Hunter Green, Steel Blue and Realtree AP Camouflage. In addition, the 2012 Grizzly 700 FI with EPS is available as a Special Edition in Metallic Sandstone with cast aluminum wheels, painted body panels and special graphics.
