2012 Toyota Camry Dominates Daytona With Smokey Tires

Even though the Camry will stop being imported from Japan, we’ll stop short of calling the new model an American car. However, the 2012 sedan that will be the star of sales figures to come does have some Star Spangled Banner credentials.
We’re of course talking about the fact that the Camry is the Official Pace Car of the 2012 Daytona 500. A move like that obviously needs some killer press talk to translate into actual customer demand, so Toyota has launched this very interesting little clip.

Why is it interesting? Because the video kicks off with five brand new cars smoking their tires on the track. There’s three production models in there, among them the new hybrid, plus the pace car and the actual Toyota-badged racer.

"We're thrilled to be able to feature the new Camry in Daytona at the season's biggest race. We think the DAYTONA 500 is the perfect place to showcase the all-new Camry -- which will go on sale this fall,”
