2012 Ford Focus NFS-like Test Drive

Ford took a different approach for gaining fans all over the world when it started the Gymkhana World Tour and the Octane Academy, but things aren’t over yet as the manufacturer has found another original way to gain fans and prove once again that the company aims to get close to the consumer in order to be able to create better and more challenging products.

Thus, Ford has upgraded its typical test-drive experience with the “Start More Than a Car. Get More Than a Test Drive.” program. The new customer focused program will give car buyers the opportunity to drive the 2012 Focus on a custom autocross-like test track which will resemble game-play experience. The Detroit car manufacturer equips a group of 2012 Ford Focus test vehicles with telemetry equipment and sets up an autocross course in a parking lot.

The interested customers get behind the wheel of one of Ford’s sport compacts and race to see how well they can handle the car on course and at the same time avoid the obstacle. Afterward, drivers are rewarded with points for accurately driving through the track and avoiding the obstacles, which also includes a handling course with a small slalom. Also, there is no section where the enthusiasts have to back up using the Focus’ rear camera.

The driver knows when he scored points for the accurate driving when the sound of a crowd cheering or a quick guitar echoes throughout the cockpit of the car. Afterward, each driver receives a link to a video of his exploits.
