2012 F1 Calendar Released, US Grand Prix on June 17

In the middle of a world wide debate surrounding the reinstatement of the Bahrain Grand Prix, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) released on Monday the full calendar for next year, a 21 races season that will kick off in March, hopefully in Bahrain, and will end in November in Brazil.

The 2012 calendar will become the busiest yet for Formula 1, and will witness some premiers, like the return of the Big Circle on US soil for the first time since 2007. The race, scheduled on June 17, will take place at the Austin track, currently under construction. With the previous race set for June 10 taking place in Montreal, this means the entire F1 world will relocate to North America for two consecutive weeks.

The single yet uncertain date remains May 6, the day when the Turkish Grand Prix is expected to take place. The Bahrain event, for the reinstatement of which Bernie Ecclestone fought so hard this year, will retain its position of season opener, a position it missed this year due to the unrest in the country.

Below is the full list of Formula 1 races scheduled for 2012:
  • March 11 - Bahrain
  • March 18 - Australia
  • April 1 - Malaysia
  • April 8 - China
  • April 22 - Korea
  • May 6 - Turkey
