The NHTSA has announced a brand new recall for the Chevy Captiva Sport SUV built under the 2012 model year. The issue with the vehicle this time lies with the parking brake.
The official report states that some Captiva Sport models might have factory with the parking brake cable not fully seated in the connector. If the cable slips out of the connector, the parking brake will be fully on.
Should this happen while the vehicle is traveling at any sort of speed, the risk of an accident is very high.
The affected vehicles number 2,070 units built between April 26 and May 17, 2012. Owners will be notified officially by GM starting July 18, and dealers will inspect and replace the affected parts free of charge. To find out if your vehicle is affected you can call Chevrolet at 866-694-6546 or NHTSA's vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236.
