Audi has finally replaced the old V10 engine in the S8 with a brand new 4.0-liter twin-turbo unit. The car is now a truly viable alternative for those who don’t want to go for the Mercedes S 63 AMG and want a more respectable four-door saloon.
The 2012 Audi S8 will soon arrive in the UK, powered by the latest engine from Audi, the 4.0-litre TFSI V8, that in this incarnation delivers 520 PS and 650 Nm (459 lb-ft) of torque.
As a result of its new-fount turbo power, the 2012 S8 will sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.2 seconds, while top speed is still electronically governed to 155 mph (250 km/h). The drivetrain makes use of quattro all-wheel drive and an 8-speed tiptronic transmission.
The sports luxury saloon will be available in the UK from £77,900, for which you get a whole lot of sheetmetal. The interior gets standard leather, Alcantara headlining, a DVD changer, MMI navigation and a premium sound system.
