Official factory teams usually expect us to accept their doctored version of how cool race cars are, and how their 1-2-3 podiums are somehow related to wins from 40 years ago. It’s a very official and frankly quite boring to most normal people who can’t afford a race car for themselves.
So when you get an actual video of say the 2012 Audi R8 LMS ultra on the track, it’s quite the treat!
This footage was shot at Monza racetrack by NM2255, who withstood the bad weather to capture the glorious 5.2-liter V10’s unshackled power on the track on an official test day ahead of the 2012 24 hours of Le Mans. All of the 570 hp this car makes means it got a bit... playful in the damp conditions and the R8 almost let the tail go on a couple of occasions.
