2011 Volkswagen Scirocco R Cup Calendar

The Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup is now ready for a new season, with the complete 2011 race schedule being announced. The eco-friendly VW one-make cup that cuts CO2 emissions by 80 percent as the racers are being fuelled by bio natural gas, will include eight DTM events with ten races.

The 2011 season will include a new event, the Red-Bull-Ring at Spielberg, Austria. As for the paddock, this comes with an international flair, including 21 male and female drivers from eight countries. In addition to that, the paddock will also be visited by motorsport legends and celebrities, as the organizers plan to offer a high level of enterntainment to both live and "at-home" audience.

As a DTM partner series, the Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup will continue to perform on a grand stage. Letting fans come close to the action and delivering thrilling races are aims which the top touring car class and the world’s most eco-conscious one-make cup have in common. 2010 saw about 86,000 spectators on average flock to the jointly held races. Thanks to the push-to-pass system, which is unique in motorsport and puts a power boost of 50 hp at the driver’s fingertip, the Scirocco R-Cup guarantees captivating races,” stated the press release.
