2011 Piaggio Mp3 Sport Revealed

A new edition of the three-wheeled motor scooter with two wheels on the front has been recently unveiled by the Italian brand, sporting a new white livery. Dubbed Mp3 Sport, this special edition of the scooter in white bodywork with contrasting black accents is available in both 300cc and 400cc variants.

Exclusive details such as the 10-spoke wheels, the inner coating of the headlight assemblies, the front cowl and passenger handgrips with their gritty, shiny black color theme, as well as the burnished plates, are all among the features of the new Mp3 Sport.

The protective fume windshield further enhances the racing look, alongside the ergonomic saddle and red relief stitching.
Mp3 300ie "Sport" is equipped with the new water-cooled Piaggio single-cylinder 4-stroke 4-valve 300cc engine with electronic injection, definitely more torque than its 250cc predecessor (delivering 23.2 Nm at 6,500 rpm compared to the 21 Nm of the 250).

The new 300cc also boasts technologies such as Ride by Wire technology for electronic throttle control. Moreover, the Piaggio Mp3 300ie "Sport" does not have any mechanical connection between the throttle grip control and the throttle valve located in the intake duct that modulates the amount of air to mix with the petrol.

The result of the electronic control is an optimized air/fuel mixture, which turns into smoother power delivery and therefore into enhanced riding comfort, lowers consumption and fewer emissions.

The 400cc Piaggio engine is a 4-valve, 4-stroke unit with liquid cooling and electronic fuel injection. This engine is the top of the Mp3 range with a power output of 34 hp at 7,500 rpm and 37.6 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm.
