2011 Hyundai Sonata Leaked Photos and Official Sketches

Even if it is projected to be released next month, only a little is actually known about the 2011 Hyundai Sonata. Except a couple of photos and some rumored details, nobody knew for sure how the upcoming model is going to look like. At least until today because a bunch of leaked photos reached the web, a few hours before the South Korean manufacturer launched two official teasers supposed to give us a glimpse into the design of the new model.

As you can see in the photo gallery below, the car looks quite appealing, featuring a more aerodynamic body contributing to the overall aggressive stance on the road. A larger grille with new headlights extended towards the A pillar are also part of the package. The only picture that shows us the interior reveals a new instrument panel comprising a dual-gauge design separated by a small LCD screen that will most likely display various details regarding the car.

As for engines, there are only a few rumors at this point but icars.sg says the new Sonata will probably rely on both 4-cylinder and V6 engines, with a turbo diesel version as a very likely scenario for European markets. And speaking of Europe, the 2011 Sonata is expected to arrive here in the first half of 2010.

"We expect the car to be close to or class-leading in every department such as emissions, handling, ride and so on, but what really marks it out is that it will sell on its looks as well as all its other attributes,"
a Hyundai insider told autocar.co.uk.

"The design of this car is every bit as big a leap forward for the sector as the Accent to the i30 was for its sector."
