2011 Daytona SX Track Construction Details Revealed

Five-time Daytona Supercross By Honda champion and current NASCAR Camping World Truck Series star Ricky Carmichael has been in charge with the design of the Supercross course at Daytona for the fourth consecutive year. The new SX track is currently under construction, and is to be made ready for the Daytona Supercross By Honda event on March 5.

New to the Ricky Carmichael Signature Design this year will be the placement of the starting gate, which will be located on pit road, while the finish line will remain in the center of the track alongside the tri-oval near the fans.

The 2011 Daytona Supercross By Honda will bring together some of the best Supercross riders in America, including three-time champion Chad Reed, defending champion Ryan Villopoto, James Stewart, Trey Canard, Ryan Dungey, Kevin Windham and Davi Millsaps.

"I'm really pumped how the new design turned out,”
said Carmichael, a 15-time AMA champion, winner of 150 AMA Pro Racing races and the prestigious Motocross of Nations. “I think the new location for the start is good and I feel the track is going to produce some great racing."
