Japanese manufacturer Toyota is showcasing the 2011 Verso S model these days in Paris, a mini-MPV that is expected to be launched on the market sometime next year. Considered to be the shortest model in the European B-segment, the Verso S features short front and rear overhangs, and an optional panoramic sunroof.

The hip points for front and rear seat occupants have been raised to improve visibility and to make it easier to get in and out of the car. Driver comfort is increased with seat height adjustment, an arm rest and a gear lever placed close to the three-spoke steering wheel.

Powering the Verso S is a 1.33-litre VVT-i petrol engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, capable of developing 98 bhp and 126 Nm of torque.

The power unit delivers 54.3 mpg (4.33 l/100km) on a combined cycle, with CO2 emissions of 127 g/km. However, if fitted with Toyota's Multidrive S continuously variable transmission, the 2011 Verso S will achieve even better CO2 figures, of 120 g/km.

Inside the mini-MPV from Toyota there is a new 6.1-inch, full colour Touch Screen Multimedia Interface, which will be followed by Navi-Box as an option at a later date.

Safety wise, the Verso S comes equipped with seven airbags, including a driver’s knee airbag, all seats are fitted with three-point seatbelts with emergency locking retractors, while front seats have pretensioners and force limiters. Active safety systems include ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Traction Control (TRC) and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC).

Details on the trim levels and pricing of the 2011 Toyota Verso S are to be revealed closer to the market launch in February 2011.
