This year’s edition of the Paris Auto Show sees the introduction of a battery powered electric concept from Skoda, dubbed Octavia Green E Line. This is, in fact, the Czech manufacturer’s first-ever electric-powered vehicle, with the first fleet of test vehicles being planned for 2011.

“The Octavia Green E Line embodies the values of the brand absolutely perfectly - the vehicle combines the desire for individual mobility with our environmental goals,” stated Skoda Auto BOD Chairman Winfried Vahland.

Based on the Skoda Octavia Combi, the Green E Line concept uses an electric motor rated at 60 kW of constant power and 85 kW maxim power, with a maximum 270 Nm of torque, which enables the vehicle to sprint from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 12 seconds.

The top speed of the Skoda Octavia Green E Line concept is rated at 84 mph (35 km/h), while the 26.5 kWh battery made from 180 lithium-ion cells, which weighs about 315 Kg, provides a driving range of 87 miles (140 km) per charge. According to Skoda, the battery has almost no impact on the volume of the passenger and luggage compartments.

The car is finished in a Pearl White exterior color and features chrome-trim on both the front and rear of the vehicle as well as on the wheels creating a contrast with the glossy black roof with integrated energy-generating photovoltaic panels.

Inside, the Octavia Green E Line boasts smart dashboard indicators, such as a computer screen that provides information on instant output, power consumption, battery charge and the remaining range. The navigation display describes the energy flow, whether the electric engine is being supplied or generating electricity.
